New In | MUNKSTOWN

There is something so appealing with geometrical patterns and there is one children's label that have figured this out, Munkstown! US based label Munkstown, packs a proper geometrical punch with their tops, accessories and shoes.

Unique prints got me intrigued and as I investigated further there was just so much goodness that I had trouble knowing what to pick! The other day a little parcel came to our door and it was a little like an early Christmas to open it up. The graphic designer in me is doing double jumps and the kids seem to be just as excited. In it we found the rad Fractal Sweatshirt and two tees, the Balancing Act tee & Kalidescope  in a great little recyclable cotton bag. The tees are super comfy with a light cotton blend with 50% cotton and 50% polyester which makes them perfect for hot summer days. I also like that all of Munkstown's clothes are unisex, and are easy to pass down to little brothers and sisters.

Zara Lookbook | November

I always like Zara's lookbook for both adults and children. It's uncomplicated, fun and most of all there is no unnatural posing anywhere. The kids seem to enjoy the shoot and it always makes the photos nice to look at.  Lots of new great items for kids this winter (showing the European selection). Loving the sweats and great harem/leggings pants for the boys and the chunky knits and skinny corduroys for the girls.

GIRL | Outfit Love

Sometimes I would like to swap wardrobe with my daughter... loving the comfy look of this outfit :

Longsleeve top by Zara / Sweatshirt vest from Soft Gallery / Skirt from Mango Kids / Leggings by Soft Gallery / Shoes by Minnetonka.

Close Up | Soft Gallery, Bobo Choses, Atsuyo Et Akiko

It is always nice to be pleasantly surprised when you order things online, and with these three labels you always seem to be. The only downside to online shopping is of course that you can't touch and feel the garments you are buying. The colours might be slightly different to the production photos or the fabric might not at all be what you had in mind when you receive it. Not to mention the size issue. That is why I started the Close Up features. When I brows on blogs, etc I love seeing some great close up photos of garments and they give me a better idea what the item might be like when I order it. Here are a couple of garments I found and fell in love with recently at Minibots and Shan & Toad.

I have had my eye on the wonderful Silas Bear Sweatshirt for a while now, and when they had a sale on it, it was too good to pass up on. All Soft Gallery's clothes are little pieces of art, and this sweatshirt is no exception! There are so many lovely details on this sweatshirt that just takes it far and beyond a normal sweatshirt. Little sequin eyes, yarn stitched ears and golden threads makes it almost magical and definitely fun to touch for the kids. The quality is nice and thick and will be an item we will treasure for a long time to come.

The nice baggy Gaberiel shorts are also from Soft Gallery and has a nice thick terry quality to them. They got a solid drawstring waist and a nice contrast pocket on the back. When you live in Australia you can basically never get too many shorts (or so we have found out over the years) especially when you have a boy which practically lives in them when the warmer weather comes around.

For some reason I wasn't too crazy about the latest collection of Bobo Choses, but some things really grew on me and this guitar button front tee was one of those tops we simply had to get. I love that both my girl and my boy can wear this. The last two items was a lovely denim skirt also from Bobo Choses and a printed circus tee (also unisex) from Atsuyo Et Akiko.

Regarding the size I would say Soft Gallery and Atsuyo Et Akiko run slightly on the small size so my recommendation is to go up at least 1 size and I find Bobo Choses are running right on size this season. All items except for the circus tee is currently on sale.

Brand Watch | Udder SS++ Collection

Handmade Australian label Udder had come out with another collection that is truly sustainable in every bit of the way.

Artist/Designer Fliss Dodd  explains, "In keeping with our philosophy of up-cycling fabrics for our creations, we have transformed a small collection of Winter pieces into a very special Summer collection. Each piece is hand embroidered with a double plus symbol (++) or as we like to call it, the 'double positive'. For us, from past to present to future, that no matter what happens, we can always see a positive in the outcomes."

Styles are limited so if you see a sweet outfit for this festive season and those summer days don't miss out! I love this way of thinking and not letting anything go to waste, and I am truly impressed how well the winter pieces have transformed into a summer version. How comfy doesn't the zip up Jasper hoodie look? And it teams up perfectly with the raw track shorts in Sea Blue for the boys and for girls we really like the gorgeous Evie dress. Add a unique jellyfish brooch for a fun detail.

See the whole S++ collection here, and right now Udder ships worldwide so no need for the rest of the world to miss out!

Let's Wear | Ígló & Indí

This weekend the kids had a chance to try out the Icelandic label Ígló & Indí. I have written about this exciting kids label before here, but it is always great to feel the garments and let the kids have a run in them to see for yourself how they feel, and measure up on two active kids, to give it a proper review.

First thing we noticed was how all the garments had a nice stretch in them, especially the tops, which are made from 95% cotton and 5% spandex. The mix gives the tops that good fit but also allows the kids to feel free when they play. D who is 4 and a half is wearing a size 104/110 and M who is 7 wears 128/134. The clothes run true to size and sat perfect on.

I let the kids choose their own outfit which came out really well with M going for the cute Katrin Fox longsleeve and matching it with the cool Bella Leopard Pants. D picked the Jacob One eye Top (who can resist a pirate animal!?) and to that the Robert Carrot Pants.

M who are not normally a big fan of pants loved the Bella Leopard Pants. They have a great loose fit on top but cut so the legs narrow off and gives it a nice mix between a harem pant and leggings. She was also fond of the generous side pockets with the decorative frill. Both pants comes from the AW13 collection and has a nice thick quality to them. The Robert Carrot pants has a great look with some raw drawstrings on the front and a nice cut over all. They are also have a longer crotch and give them that nice relaxed feel.

Personally I can see how the kids love these clothes. I love the illustrations that tell tales of adventures and characters that the kids can relate to. I also like that there has been put a lot of thought into what provides maximum comfort without compromising on creativity. Four thumbs up from the two testers that certainly took the clothes through a rough day of playing in the forest, cliffs and beach.

Moments | Best Things

D wears: Hoodie by Beau LOves / Jeans by I Dig Denim / Shoes by Natives.

Sometimes when you capture a moment you get one of those rare glimpses of pure joy. This is one of them. My boy loves to jump, off pretty much anything. He says it makes him feel like he is flying but he wishes it would last longer than a few seconds. Luckily for me I manage to capture him and show him what he looks like while "flying" and it makes me remember that sometimes the best things in life is free... Have a lovely Sunday out there. Since it will be a rainy one over here, we will spend ours at the Aquarium.

Brand Watch | Lion of Leisure

Sometimes you want to write about a label simply because you can see how much time they spend on details and quality. This is one of those times. Lion of Leisure hails from Antwerp in Belgium and is a small, independent kids clothing brand. Started by designers Matthew Grove and Saskia Solberg, all their products are printed by hand and in 100% Organic cotton (GOTS certified). Each t-shirt is printed with biodegradable ink and packed in an re-usable 100% organic cotton bag.

I love the fact that they have focused on local craftsmanship and make garments that look and feel special with a graphic identity inspired by their own detailed, whimsical animal illustrations with a humorous twist to them. It is also a great bonus that the tees are unisex. We got the chance to try out two of them and my kids picked the Lion Logo tee and the Fox T. The graphic, illustrated print is something that definitely struck a cord with the kids and they can't wait to try them out.

Besides t-shirts they also make some great looking animal pillows/toys and tote bags that also can be found in their etsy shop. Another retailer that stocks Lion of Leisure and ships worldwide is Orange Mayonnaise.

Moments | Weekend A'hoy!

M wears : Tee by Mini & Maximus / Pants by Sudo / Cap by Mini & Maximus / Shoes by Natives. D wears: Tee by Munster / Pants by Heart & Guts / Shoes by Converse / Cap by Mini & Maximus.

Some moments from yesterday. School pick up, milk shake/coffee run and then down to the local playground for some fun in the shade. Since we got everybody started with healthy smoothies in the morning it feels like everybody has a lot more energy to get through the day with (although a coffee still feels necessary for some reason ;) Its also such a great way of making sure you get your daily fruit and veg ratio in (and great for sneaking in some new one as well for the kids).

Nice with a new weekend to look forward to and a hopefully sick free one this time. We have only one thing on the agenda for this one.... relaxation! Hope you get a wonderful one as well...
