Moments | A Taste of Spring

D wears: Tee by Munster / Hoodie by Shampoodle / Jeans by Indie Kids / Shoes by Converse / Beanie by Vans / Backpack by Mini Rodini. M (4yr friend) wears: Sweater/dress by Little Horn / Leggings by Seed / Shoes by Converse. A (little sister of M) wears: Sleeveless hoodie by Minti / Leggings by H&M / Longsleeve by Oishi-M.

We have gotten our first real taste of Spring the last few days. The temperature has reached 20C and it's been lovely to actually be able to throw off the heavy layer of jackets and sweats. We met up with good friends for a play on the beach, and all kids were enjoying some scootering and climbing trees and just hanging in the sand. Lots of shell collecting and rock throwing, something seemingly entertaining for hours at no end. The meteorologists are promising more warm weather and sun this weekend and next week so we are looking forward to some more time outside in just a tee.

Brand Watch | NOVA STAR aw13

Swedish Nova Star is something that I have had in my kids wardrobe for a long time now. I bought our first pair of sweatpants and jeans about 7 years ago and since then many more NS clothes have ended up being favourites with the kids (the first sweatpants are still being used by little brother right now). They have just released their AW13 collection and there are some great new styles for both boys and girls who are after cool, soft design.

Nova Star was created by Helena Orlenius in 2004, when she had her first child, Novalieh. The style of the label is inspired by street fashion. Comfortable and functional clothes with great quality for a lot of adventures. Sizes run from 68 - 150 (3m - 12 yrs).

To see our posts with Nova Star clothes in them click here (click older posts to see them all).

Oii barnkläder carries a big range of their collections and they ship worldwide.

Brand Watch | POM D'API FW13

There are shoes and then there are shoes. The cutest children's footwear comes from this French label, Pom d'Api. Here are a few of our favourites from their FW13 collection that is going out to stores soon.

For winter, Pom d’Api plays around with aesthetic codes with elegant results. Derbys and ballet flats are set off with distressed leather details in warm colours, whilst boots are decked out in natural leather and shiny velvet. Pom d’Api has been designing and manufacturing quality children’s shoes since 1973. Today, the choice of materials is still one of their priorities.

Moments | 2 Wheel Love

D wears: Knitted top by Witchery Kids / Leggings by Kiniki / Shoes by Feiyue / Beanie by Zoo York.

There is a lot of this at the moment. Running after a 4 yr old on a balance bike. It has to come, everywhere. It it has to be fixed even though it's not broken, just so there is a reason to take out tools, and check the tires, look at the chain, and fix the break.

Brand Watch | Kidscase F/W13

The new Fall/Winter collections are rolling in over in Europe, and one label we are always excited to see is Dutch Kidscase. Their F/W collection is beautifully photographed by Annemarie van Drimmelen and showcasing another strong collection designed by Jacqueline van Nieuwkerk of Kidscase.

There is something magic about Kidscase style. It takes you back in time, just far enough to have nostalgic memories of your own childhood, but they only borrow the memories and put them into a more contemporary design. There is something almost wholesome about their chunky knits and beautifully crafted jackets that makes you smile and wish it came in bigger sizes. Kidscase deliver some very high quality garments for both kids and babies, and there is a lot to look forward to this winter.

You can find a large portion of the collection over at Orange Mayonnaise.

Brand Watch | Zara Winter '13

The new Zara Lookbook is out. Love the no nonsense / Terry Richardson approach to it. There are plenty of good wardrobe fillers here. Great basics with that little extra twists and a few nice winter jackets are in there as well.

I was doing a little dance of joy when Zara were finally launched Down Under, but I have to say I am quite disappointed with what is offered here. Granted we have opposite seasons here, but the innovative design, especially in the kids section is no where near what is offered in Europe. Still a puzzle to me, but happy that there is an online option. Above is a few of my favourites from this season.

Moments | Modern Museum

M wears: Knitted sweat by Rika Kids / Shorts by Popupshop / Stockings by Popupshop / Longsleeve by Minti / Shoes by Minnetonka. D wears: Hoodie by Gumboots / Jeans by Seed / Shoes by Puma / Beanie by Zoo York.

A trip to Heide Museum of Modern Art yesterday. We have been here once before and this is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. The big open spaces and lovely sculptures are a highlight for the entire family.

The surroundings of the museum is truly magical. Trees to climb, sculptures to explore and hidden paths to rivers below. It was the perfect place to spend a Saturday afternoon at. Last time we visited it was packed with people. Today it almost felt like we were exclusive guests here, which was a nice change. You can feel the change in the air. Warmer weather seem to be coming this way. The little flowers were opening up on the ground and there were buds on all the trees. I sense Spring is not far away.

Brand Watch | NicoNico AW13

A look at the new AW13 range from US based label Nico Nico. We have been long time fans of this label for its buttery soft raglan tops and comfy leggings and sweatpants. Less is more with this label and their new range doesn't disappoint!  While a lot of labels seem to mute down the colours for Autumn and Winter Nico Nico turn them up with colour names like citrus, tomato and midnight. They have also added some gorgeous, neutral thick knits in heather grey, oatmeal and black that goes well with most attires.

We can't wait to see this collection hit stores soon! You can find Nico Nico in Australia via Minibots / Skip To My Lou and in Europe via Scandinavian Minimall / Oii Barnkläder

Moments | Winter Beach Bums

M wears: Fleece jacket by Witchery Kids / Skirt by Molo / Beanie by CTH Mini / Stockings by Bonds / Boots by Emu Uggs. D wears: Jacket by Danefæ / Pants by Katvig / Gumboots by Hummel Kids / Beanie home-made.

Some photos from the weekend that past. We braved some strong but rather warm winds and the kids had fun running on the sand. When the wind blew the sand it was almost like being in Scandinavian winter landscape, with the snow flying close to the ground. The water still looks nice enough to jump into but still way too cold. I can't wait until we can pack a big beach bag and head on down for a dip! Soon...soon I hope.
